North Coast Ohio SGNA
It is with great sadness that we ended 2009 learning of the untimely death of one of our members, Linda VanVoorhis Smith. Linda received her Nursing degree from Aultman Hospital School of Nursing in 1969. She was a nurse at Aultman Hospital for 40 years. Linda was an active member of NCOSGNA most recently as the Education Chair. She always had a great deal of energy and was very passionate about GI Nursing. Linda also enjoyed cooking and baking and was active in her church, The Canton Baptist Temple. She also was very proud and enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Linda will be greatly missed, we are grateful for the time she was able to spend with us. May you rest in peace Linda.
Letter From The President
As your NCOSGNA President for 2010, I welcome you to our website. We are adding new features every month with the hope that this will be the only tool you need to keep up to date and in contact with us at North Coast. Our Goal is to be able to "GO GREEN" by not having to mail out newletters, flyers, ballots... being able to provide everything our region needs from the website. It may take a little time. Be patient with us and send us your input and suggestions as to how we can make this a more workable site for you.
Check out our event listings to save the dates for our conferences this year. We will also be listing our Board Meeting dates to give each of our members a chance to work with us in planning these events. We are always looking for new committee members to bring fresh energy and ideas to our programs. Contact any Board Member if you would like to get more involved. I am proud to serve as your President this year and honored to work with such a dedicated and hard-working Board. We have a passion for GI Nursing and are happy to share it with all of you. Proudly, Debbie Luteran RN, CGRNScholarship to Honor our Friend
The Board of NCOSGNA wished to commemorate the life of our dear friend and colleague, Linda VanVoorhis Smith. Linda was an enthusiastic part of our Board. She worked on the Education Committee as well as attending every Board meeting to help with the planning of events for our region. Linda loved attending SGNA's Annual Course. It excited her to learn new things, visit new cities and to network with other nurses from around the country. She looked forward to that week every year. Each year we offer a scholarship to attend the SGNA Annual Course and it will now be known as the Linda VanVoorhis Smith Scholarship for Annual Course. It is our hope that her enthusiasm for this event will live on in the future recipients of this scholarship.
