Endoscopy Spotlight on

Cleveland Clinic Wooster Endoscopy Unit

Wooster, Ohio

Wooster may be a small town, but it has become a big medical community.  In late 2002, the Cleveland Clinic Wooster opened its specialty building and outpatient GI endoscopy unit.  The unit specializes in outpatient colonoscopies and EGD’s.  “When we first opened, we were only doing a little more than 700 procedures a year.  Now we are performing over 2300 cases a year” states unit team leader Teresa Rowe RN.

The unit staffs 2 full-time RN’s and two techs.  Another four RN’s and an LPN are part-time.  Job satisfaction is very high in the unit.  Personnel has not changed in three years.   Self-scheduling with weekends and holidays off are the main job perks.  Patients comment on how well everyone works together and what a great job we do.

The group is passionate about expanding their knowledge and skills.  New learning opportunities take place in the form vender in-service programs and North Coast SGNA events.  Last spring, the Wooster group hosted an event for NCOSGNA.  Two of unit’s physicians presented for the group.
